The Culture of Hurry and The Yearning for Peace…
Healing Self and Society in a Faster-is-Better World.
with Abby Seixas, M.Ed., LMHC.
June 22, 2013 • Champlain College,
Burlington, Vermont.
Whether we believe in, enjoy, subscribe to, or dislike the fast pace of life in the 21st century, we tend to unconsciously match our rhythms to its fast-flowing currents. What are the effects––on body, feelings, mind and spirit––of living in a culture where speed and surface appearances are of the utmost importance? And how do we counter the system forces that would draw us toward valuing speed over depth, and quick fixes over substantive change?
Based on her book, Finding the Deep River Within, Abby will present her 6 core practices for finding depth and balance in everyday life, with emphasis on how our own self-care is important for culture-wide transformation.
This workshop is part of a 2-day conference: Psychosynthesis: At the Heart of Systems Transformation. June 21-23, 2013. Continuing Education credits offered for psychologists, social workers, and licensed mental health counselors.
